Leigh Jose likes the feel of leather against her skin. She often wears clothing with leather straps that she can crisscross on her arms or legs.

Leigh is part dolphin, although she didn't receive the ability to swim underwater with the sleek contours of that majestic animal. What Leigh received was its untrasonic communication abilities.

Leigh is a math whiz, spouts positive truisms, and is all about having a good time.

We first meet Leigh in Book 2 of The Human-Hybrid Project, Inside the Darkness.

John Carter looks like a larger-than-life blond god, even fitter than the facility's resident fitness nut, Devon Maye.

John is embarassed when anyone asks him his hybrid half. He's been bonded with the DNA of a wood frog.

His ability is unique, as John can freeze his own blood, allowing him to thrive at temperatures that would incapacitate others.

John's ability has never been tested in the real world, but he was able to successfully function in a freeze chamber at -25 C for three days running. There is hope that his ability to freeze his own blood can also allow him to work in excessively hot environments, but that test is on hold, pending further study.

We first meet John in Book 2 of The Human-Hybrid Project, Inside the Darkness.

Laura Lassere is a hybrid turned into a gothic queen.

Well, not exactly, but that's the persona she assumes. Laura loves the goth look, with black hair, black-painted nails, and black lipstick.

The black helps her to be stealthy, Laura claims, but that's her natural talent. She would be stealthy no matter what she wore. The goth is an excuse, not a reason.

Laura is a vegetarian straight and simple. It comes from her DNA exchange with a dragon millipede. Laura can breathe out hydrogen cyanide from specifically developed pouches in her throat. Her vegetarian diet prevents the hydrogen cyanide from binding with the heme-centers in her blood, thereby not affecting her as strongly as it does her victims. Laura claims it still burns, and there is evidence she does develop ulcers in and around her throat when she emits a lethal dose of the toxic acid.

We first meet Laura in Book 2 of The Human-Hybrid Project, Inside the Darkness.

Christian Maguire is considered a failure in his human-hybrid transformation, but not because he failed to incorporate useful characteristics from his introduced DNA.

Christian's lack of aggression and refusal to cooperate with the shadier side of the Tower's programs have made him unacceptable for the military's needs.

Christian is blended with a wolfhound, and from his canine DNA, he has acquired precognition. His precog lets him see twelve hours into the future, but only events that directly affect him.

Christian's eyes have black centers bordered by blue, and that is surrounded by lighter blue. He is tall and excessively lanky, with outsized arms and legs, and a rough, tousled appearance, like an overgrown puppy. Christian is friendly and affectionate to a fault but doesn't tolerate being alone.

If you are around Christian much, be prepared. Just like the giant, ungainly wolfhound, Christian sheds on everything and everyone around him.

Christian also struggles with his weight. He is naturally strong but tends to be lazy, and it is hard for him to burn off what he eats.

We first meet Christian in Book 2 of The Human-Hybrid Project, Inside the Darkness.

We first meet Chad Sherwin in Book 2 of The Human-Hybrid Project, Inside the Darkness, but the interaction between Garik Shayk and Chad is minimal. The two become better acquainted in Book 4, Reflections of the Silverback, when Garik meets the crippled hybrid in the hospital.

Chad has been successfully hybridized with the DNA of a bat — successful if you consider arms like wings and atrophied legs successful. Chad's face has also taken on the misshappen characteristics of a bat, making him appear deformed. His echolocation works perfectly, however, and it is the skill that enabled him to escape the research center.

Captured and returned, his ability to echolocate in the dark proved invaluable, and Chad's ability to fly was taken from him (hence, his functional prosthetic arms) and his lower limbs have been grafted on from an unsuccessful (and likely unwilling) hybridized human in the hopes he will one day be able to walk. Twenty surgeries later, Chad is still restricted to his electric wheelchair.

The Tower has been good to its word to provide Chad with the best of care. He drives a top-of-the-line Invacare Storm Series chair, complete with a high torque brushless motor. Chad may not be able to walk, but he can drive his chair like a madman.

One other characteristic that makes Chad unique is his voice. Like a bat, his vocal register is out of the range of normal human hearing. He uses a translation device that interprets his words and speaks for him. One thing the device fails at is inflection. Everything Chad says through the device comes out as polite and well-mannered, even when he is sarcastic or angry.
